Nova Parcels service terms

Terms and Conditions

Please review these terms before submitting a customs form, paying a quote, or tendering a parcel.

Effective date: September 18, 2026 (v1.0)

1. Scope and acceptance

These Terms apply to quotes, customs forms, bookings, payments, and parcels submitted to Nova Parcels. By submitting a customs form, paying a quote, checking the acceptance box, or tendering a parcel, the sender confirms that they have read and accepted these Terms and any service-specific limits or carrier requirements.

2. Accurate package information and verification

The sender must provide accurate information for the packed parcel, including its weight and length, width, and height. Measurements should be taken after packing and must include the packaging and any protruding parts.

Nova Parcels and its carriers may weigh or re-measure a parcel at the Calgary office, a depot, or a carrier facility. A quote is an estimate until the package information is verified.

Chargeable weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is calculated as length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 6,000. Weight is rounded up to the next 0.5 kg and dimensions are rounded up to whole centimetres for rating.

3. Standard limits and dimension surcharge

Standard shipping accepts parcels up to 30 kg, with no single dimension over 200 cm and a maximum length-plus-girth of 300 cm. Parcels outside these limits are not standard-eligible. Nova Parcels may require a specialized quote, split or repackage the parcel, delay or refuse transport, or return or cancel the shipment, depending on the available service.

A $100 CAD Nova dimension surcharge applies when any package dimension is over 120 cm and remains within the standard maximum limits. This is the base Nova surcharge only: it is not a cap, credit, waiver, or substitute for any other charge. Additional oversize, large-package, bulky, non-conveyable, length-plus-girth, special-handling, fuel, transportation, or carrier/service-provider charges may apply separately and are the sender’s responsibility.

When the calculator can identify the base surcharge, it is included in the displayed price. The calculator does not guarantee that the base surcharge is the only oversize-related charge that may be assessed after verification or by a carrier or service provider.

4. Quotes, re-rating, and additional charges

Prices shown by the calculator are estimates based on the information supplied by the sender. Nova Parcels may recalculate the price when verified weight, dimensions, chargeable weight, service method, or carrier charges differ from the information used for the quote.

Additional charges may include the base Nova dimension surcharge, one or more carrier or service-provider oversize or large-package charges, fuel or other surcharges, transportation charges, and storage, handling, repackaging, return, or administrative costs caused by a shipment issue. These charges may be cumulative. The sender is responsible for every applicable charge assessed after verification or by a carrier or service provider; payment of one surcharge does not satisfy any other amount owing.

5. Payment and shipment status

Any balance requested after verification or carrier assessment must be paid before the shipment is released or dispatched, unless Nova Parcels confirms another arrangement in writing.

If an amount owing is not paid, Nova Parcels or a carrier may hold, delay, refuse, repackage, split, return, or cancel the shipment. Storage, handling, return, and other resulting costs remain the sender’s responsibility.

6. Measurement at the Calgary office

If the sender selects the Calgary office measurement option, dimensions may be left blank on the customs form. Nova Parcels will weigh and measure the parcel at drop-off and confirm the final shipping cost afterward. Any pre-measurement quote or promotion is subject to that verification.

7. Customs declarations and prohibited goods

The sender is responsible for accurate package details, goods descriptions, quantities, and declared values, and for ensuring that the parcel does not contain prohibited or dangerous goods. Misdeclarations may cause delays, refusal, inspection, seizure, penalties, or additional charges. The sender is responsible for costs resulting from inaccurate or incomplete information.

8. Carrier and service-provider terms

Canada Post, UPS, Nova Poshta, and other service providers may apply their own measurement rules, charges, service limits, and delivery procedures. Their applicable terms and carrier-assessed charges may apply in addition to these Terms.

9. Questions or corrections

If you discover an error in the weight or dimensions before tendering the parcel, contact Nova Parcels as soon as possible so the quote can be reviewed before dispatch.
